Home tour: Soledad Suarez

Former lawyer, Soledad Suarez, pursued her all-time dream of being an interior designer after a couple years in the corporate world. Her love for all things design shows in her work, as she's passionate about creating beautiful interiors. She was so sweet to email me & ask me to share her place with all of you.

Below is Soledad's home, where you'll see her Design work. It definitely  captures her timeless and sophisticated style! I'm sure her gorgeous home will inspire you guys!

DIY: Chalkboard stemware

Hi All MBG Readers, Jana here to share a chic & super simple solution for entertaining: stemware with writable chalkboard bases.  A sophisticated way to distinguish ones champagne cocktail when the event is too engaging to keep track.

Materials:

Stemware
Paint Brush
Chalk

Paint the base. I recommend using short brushstrokes. This layer will be thin as you want just enough coverage to create texture for the second layer. This layer will not look attractive but do not worry, it will turn out!

Let dry overnight. Then paint on a second layer of paint. It will look goopy, but again, do not worry, as it dries the paint settles into the shape of the base.

Let the second coat dry overnight. Now entertain away!

Something to note - do not get the bases wet as the paint will chip. To preserve, wash only the bowl of the stemware. An upside to the somewhat delicate nature is that you can easily wash all the paint off if you want your stemware only transitioned temporarily.

New at Made By Girl

Hey everyone! Why not start off the New year wearing pretty jewelry? Just arriving to my shop, super cute rope bracelets with gold lettering! The rope bracelets come in 4 different colors with either "love", "faith", or "dream" in gold! These are great layered together or stacked with other bracelets!

Above is my assistant, Daisy, wearing her "love" rope bracelet in black & her Kiss Bracelet!

You can find the rope bracelets here, and how cute are those lips? The Kiss Bracelet is another favorite on MadeByGirl!

Also, if you're like me, I always start the new year with a new journal. Get your own Cocoa & Hearts Notebooks which are available in 4 different colors!

New Year + New Sofa

Happy New Year everyone!

Ever since we moved to our new apartment (about a month in a half ago) - we've been sitting on the floor. My back has been KILLING ME & watching tv was a hassle.  Amazing.... the things we take for granted.

Now I know how BLESSED we are to say, we FINALLY have our sofa! It's a gorgeous tufted gray velvet beauty from Jayson Home & Garden.

Aaaah, what a great New Year's gift! If you recall, I posted about it here & even ran a poll on my blog for a few weeks asking YOU to choose a color. Even though the charcoal won the poll, I ended up choosing the 2nd favorite - gray! The sofa is called Rockefeller sofa - and it comes in many colors. I've always wanted a velvet sofa & so did my husband, so this was an easy choice. I'm debating on whether to replace the painting over the sofa, to something a little more muted or to match the rug? Hmmm.

What do you think? Of course, I would have to S-E-L-L the painting that's already there if that was the case. Below are some resources for most of the items below.

I know, the kitchen looks BORING, but we like it clutter free.

By the way- the large abstract painting below used to be the large lipstick dots painting- remember? You can see it in my las vegas home.

Please leave a comment - let me know what you think. It's amazing how much can fit into a 975 sq foot NYC apartment! I'll say it before & I'll say it again, we are very blessed & I thank God for the home we have.

Instagram + New Year

Welcome back!

I have to say, it was a fantastic few days. I hope you guys enjoyed & took some time off to relax. It's hard sometimes when you own your own business, the emails are ALWAYS coming in!

Nonetheless, we managed to get away & visit Boston for a few days of vacation time. We loved it! It was my first time there, the architecture was impressive & reminded us of the upper east side neighborhood here in Manhattan! Awesome.

On another note, MadeByGirl is now on Instagram. So feel free to follow me there if you like. I update almost everyday & most of the pics you will only see there & NOT on my blog.

So, tell me, How did you spend the New Year??

I'm EMBARRASSED to admit, we fell asleep at about 11pm & when we woke up - it was 2013! Lovely.
