Jordan Carlyle's Apartment Tour

Back in July I wrote about Interior designer Jordan Carlyle - here & his NYC apartment. He recently moved to a bigger apartment & wanted to share it with my readers. It's all designed by him & it's double the size of his previous place....in NYC, that is TRULY a blessing.

It seems this time around he's incorporated more grays throughout, don't you think?

My favorite room in his place is the office -it's just an extra room in his apartment, but feels & looks like a REAL office space. That's what I hope to achieve with my own home office. I also love the way he used the space by the window & made it a window seating area - so gorgeous & great use of space!

So bright, yet still serene - LOVE!

Design: Winter Whites

I don't know many spaces more serene than a room filled with a palette of pale winter whites. Especially this time of year! Hello, everyone.

Katie here, from H2 Design. Today I thought I would pull together a room filled with whites of various textures & accents of metal and wood. It can't help but remind you of a fresh snowfall! And since it is that time of year, I tried to sprinkle in some holiday accents to add a little wintery charm.

1 - Assorted Ornaments via Crate & Barrel / 2 - White Deer Sculpture via West Elm / 3 - Tolomeo Floor Lamp via Room and Board / 4 - Streamlined Sofa via Wisteria / 5 - Modern Brass Forest Tree Set via Jayson Home / 6 - Silver Lacquered Tray via West Elm / 7 - Reclaimed Coffee Table via Anthropologie / 8 - Dash & Albert Catamaran Striped Rug via Zinc Door / 9 - Bertoia Chairs via DWR / 10 - Jackie Frost Pillow via Room and Board / 11 - Tibetan Sheepskin Ivory Pillow via Room and Board / 12 - Forest Fir Candle via Terrain / 13 - Open Weave Throw via Anthropologie
Happy pre-holiday decorating everyone!

Food: Pizza Soup

Hi MBG readers! Lauren from Perpetually Chic dropping in today. With fall in full force and temperatures starting to drop as we head into the next season, there's nothing more comforting than a warm bowl of hearty soup.

This recipe is hard not to like, easy as can be and healthier than calling for pizza in a pinch. Have you made pizza soup before? I'd love to hear, and keep reading for my version!

pizza souppizza souppizza souppizza soup

Ingredients:
  • 2 links Italian sausage
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 28 ounces of peeled, diced tomatoes
  • 1.5 cups marinara sauce
  • 28 ounces chicken broth
  • 2 cups zucchini, sliced
  • 1 large green bell pepper, chopped
  • 30 slices of turkey pepperoni (the turkey kind has 70% less fat)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
Instructions:
  1. Remove sausage from casing and crumble. Discard casing.
  2. Place sausage in large pot over medium heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until brown. Remove sausage from pot and set aside.
  3. Add mushrooms and onions, saute until onions are tender.
  4. Add cooked sausage, tomatoes, marinara sauce, chicken broth, zucchini and bell pepper. Stir and return mixture to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered 6-8 minutes or until veggies are crisp but tender.
  6. Add pepperoni and simmer one minute more.
  7. Pour into bowls, sprinkle with mozzarella and garnish with black olives if desired.

My Steve Madden Kicks

You've seen them on the runway & in fashion magazines as well as on the feet of celebrities everywhere. These pumped-up kicks are trending all over stores in New York city.  I originally had my eye on the Isabel Marant ones, but the price tag seemed a little steep.

Last weekend I came across the Steve Madden ones below & the price was totally reasonable - only $150. Tried then on & they fit perfectly PLUS they were comfortable as well. Comfy sneakers are important, don't you think?? Or else what's the point?

They don't have the high heel wedge like the Ash sneakers do, which I was glad about! They also come in a variety of colors, here are a few of my faves below along with the pair I got for myself. Too cool. I love to pair them with leather pants.

Do you have a pair of kicks? What do you wear yours with?

Here I am with my husband with the ones I got, while he waits patiently. He's so cute.

Design: Cozy Winter Decor

Hi everyone! It's Amanda here, and this Monday I'm sharing a few favorite winter accents. As we transition to much colder weather, I'm hazarding a guess that many of you have pulled out the fur throws & pillows. Right? As for me, I already have my shag rug and fur throws out.

Although it isn't official Winter yet, but my decor mood is already shifting to dark greys, winter whites, with metallic finishes. To prepare for the coziest time of the year and still keeping it stylish, I've been adding accents with textures, like leather and wood. If I could, I would replace my side tables with tree stumps and some gold mercury glasses.
